REAL NEWS: Fire officials and the Police are investigating a house fire at Gray Hill, Grays Farm, which completely destroyed the home and left a young occupant nursing injuries sustained during the blaze.

Reports are that the Fire Department was called to the scene of the fire, and two fire tenders had to be deployed – the No. 10 and No. 15 engines from the St. John’s Fire Station.

Further reports are that firefighters fought hard to save the building and its contents, which were totally consumed by the inferno.

Reportedly the house was occupied by Alexander Reid, his wife, and his four children.  However, the property was owned by Sherilyn Armstrong of Barnes Hill.

Reports are that Reid went to work that morning, leaving his wife and children at home. He later received a phone call notifying him that the house was on fire.

His 12-year-old son, Jehy Reid, had to be transported to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre by way of the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) for treatment of injuries suffered during the fire.

Fire officials say that the house, which measured 19’ x 29,’ had been connected to Antigua Public Utilities Authority electricity and water services; however, neither it nor its contents were insured.

The police were informed of the fire by a 911 operator who notified the Grays Farm Police Station.

The incident reportedly occurred at about 3:10 a.m. on April 30.
