Health Minister Sir Molwyn Joseph has announced a series of healthcare upgrades for the Glanville Polyclinic, including plans for an in-house pharmacy, laboratory services, EKG testing and ultrasound capabilities.
Speaking at a town hall meeting in the constituency, Joseph said the Ministry of Health will expand primary healthcare services in the coming months to reduce the need for residents to travel to St. John’s for routine medical care.
“One of the first things we intend to do is to establish a pharmacy — right here in this clinic,” Joseph told residents. He noted that a similar model has already been implemented in Villa and said the goal is to allow patients to fill prescriptions within their own community.
The minister also announced plans to introduce laboratory services at the facility, enabling residents to access basic medical tests without leaving St. Philip’s North.
“We are going to establish a laboratory in this polyclinic so you can get certain basic laboratory exams done in the polyclinic,” he said, adding that strengthening primary care would help ease pressure on the main hospital.
In addition, Joseph said electrocardiogram (EKG) services will be introduced at the clinic, allowing patients experiencing chest pain or cardiac symptoms to receive diagnostic testing locally.
“If you feel you have a pain in your chest and you feel vulnerable, you don’t have to take a car and go all the way to St. John’s,” he said. “It will be done right here.”
Ultrasound services — particularly important for pregnant women — are also planned for the facility. Joseph described ultrasound as one of the most sought-after services in the healthcare system and said the addition would significantly improve maternal care within the community.

The upgrades form part of a broader effort to strengthen primary healthcare delivery across Antigua and Barbuda, the minister said.
“Health is wealth,” Joseph told the gathering, arguing that accessible community-based services are essential to improving overall public health outcomes.
He said the government will continue expanding services at the Granville Polyclinic over the coming months as part of what he described as a “major transformation” for St. Philip’s North.

The question is why now and not before when the constituency was being represented by the mist senior politician in the country. The people of this constituency and Antigua and Barbuda must open their eyes and ears and stop swallowing political promises from those who have control all along and never produced any assistance.

Where is GRANVILLE?
A promise is a comfort to a fool!!!
Now????
Randy Baltimore is not vying for a seat with a new party.
He is seeking to replace a man who has been the ALP representative for fifty years.
If Sir Robin has been a failure, so to has his party and government.
If you put fresh wine in old and dirty bottles it will be corrupted.
Putting Baltimore into the party to replace Sir Robin is doing just that.
It will be more of the same.
St Phillips North remains the only constituency that would be recognized by Christopher Columbus should he return to Antigua tomorrow.
Now that a by-election is around there is much work that should have been done decades ago being hurried.
I refer the people of St Phillips North to what happened in St Marys South prior to the by-elections.
Public works was moved to St Marys South until the day before the elections.
The day after all equipment and machinery was moved.
Not a stroke of work has been done in the constituency since.
Today we have matusula’s twin promising health upgrades to the constituency.
Why wasn’t it done a long time ago.
It is the same party which has been in office.
I call on the people of St Phillips North to reject the promises by this government.
They have shown that they do not care about you.
Show them they you do not want them neither.
I remind the young men of how much Alex has pulled them along.
He has been a hotel executive and has ensured that he keeps them all close to him.
Where has Baltimore been?
Vote Alex Browne.
Vote Alex Browne.
Vote Alex Browne.
If only there were parliamentary elections in Antigua every month, even children not conceived as yet would be millionaires.
These charlatans have no shame but Antiguans keep taking their bullshit like been blessed with holy water.
