Gov’t to Cover Funeral Costs for Murdered 9-Year-Old Chantel Crump

The government of Antigua and Barbuda will cover the funeral expenses of 9-year-old Chantel Crump, whose death has shocked the nation.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne met with her family on Friday to offer condolences and support. Chantel will be buried at the Anglican Church.

She was reported missing in March near her home and was found dead days later. An autopsy was conducted on Friday to determine the cause of death.

Angela Mejai, 20, has been charged with her murder. Investigations are ongoing.

The case has sparked national discussions on child safety and the need for stronger protective measures.

  1. Yes, we the people the Government will cover the expenses of this beautiful young girl. Our tax money.

That’s what we do, take care of our own.

Nothing to publish or brag about here..it’s our duty.

  2. I hope Gaston is not trying to placate the family while getting the rights to hide the autopsy report to protect the backlash on his Spanish voters for his wife in Johnson village and cutie Benjamin main way of getting elected. Family please take control of your daughter affairs and demand the autopsy report and call for private funding to have a proper true autopsy, because the ALP will put the Spanish people ahead of us as they usually do. this is not going down well as we saw Gaston immediately invited this Santa Domingo ambassador to help placate us and assure his Spanish votes. He is more concern to get elected to have diplomatic immunity from criminal prosecution than to go live in the sunshine and enjoy his ill gotten gains

  3. I,as a Father and Grandfather, cannot get over this little girl’s death. It really touched me deeply. RIP, little one. May God continue to bless you in death as he did in life.

  4. That’s good news. It’s the most they can do considering they are bot affording ber a state funeral. I heard Max Hurst saying it is not normal to do that and he is correct. Well good ABLP. Also the family needs financial help.

  5. Condolences to the family. What about the Chantel alert. This should be ready and tested on any missing children . By the way what has become of the missing 15 year old girl. It’s sad that we are not getting any updates. Was she found or is she still missing? We are taking about a child here.
