Prime Minister Gaston Browne and his Cabinet held their Annual New Year’s National Service of Thanksgiving and Prayers today at the St. John’s Pentecostal House of Restoration Ministries. PM Browne presented his greetings to the church, on behalf of the Government of Antigua and Barbuda.
In his greetings, PM Browne reflected on the country’s success in 2019, highlighting the major achievement of being granted the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus. PM Browne used the opportunity to encourage the congregation to take advantage of the presence of the university on the island. “If it is one singular message I would like to leave with you today, is to encourage all of you to avail yourself with the opportunity to become qualified,” Prime Minister Browne said.
Browne continued, “I am a strong believer that the progress we have made has been through prayers. I also believe as well, our nation has been protected from the wrath of Hurricanes and other Natural Disasters and I believe too that it is because of your prayers. So I ask you today, to continue to keep the entire nation in your prayers. To pray for stronger families, including my own, to pray for stronger communities, as we seek to build a stronger country.” PM Browne ended.
Prime Minister Browne also presented the scripture reading during the annual church service program, reading 1 Chronicles 16:7-17.
Members of the Cabinet, The Governor-General, H. E. Sir Rodney Williams, The Commonwealth Secretary-General Baroness Patricia Scotland and the leader of the Opposition Hon. Jamall Pringle was all present at today’s service.

This is wonderful uplifting news!!
‘Righteousness exalts a nation…’ Proverbs 13:34
A great way to start the year indeed. Giving thanks and praise to the Lord our God. Our provider and our healer.
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” King James Version (KJV) <
Always wonderful to give THANKS and PRAISES at all times. BLESSINGS
The rumor (?) is that several cabinet ministers are now born-again Christians, and that a few are charistmatic (Spirit-filled) Holy Ghost people. Can anyone verify? I sure hope this is true. Some say even Lovell has been touched by the renewal. This people all need our strongest prayer support in 2020.
