Government to Launch Road Issue Reporting App by April 2025
Citizens of Antigua and Barbuda will soon have a new tool to help address road maintenance issues, with the government planning to roll out a dedicated reporting app by April 2025. This innovative platform will allow residents to report potholes, water leaks, and other road-related concerns directly to a centralized database, streamlining the process for addressing infrastructure problems.
Housing Minister Maria Browne made the announcement during her presentation in the 2025 Budget Debate, describing the app as a game-changer for road management and public engagement. “This app represents a step forward in leveraging technology to improve our infrastructure,” she stated. “It empowers citizens to be part of the solution by directly reporting issues in their communities.”
The app will feature a user-friendly interface and GPS functionality, enabling users to pin the location of reported issues accurately. Once submitted, the reports will be sent to the Ministry of Works’ headquarters, where they will be logged and prioritized for action.
Minister Browne emphasized the benefits of this new system in improving response times and resource allocation. “The app ensures that our teams can address issues more efficiently, reducing delays and improving road conditions for everyone,” she explained.
Currently in its testing phase, the app is part of a broader effort by the government to enhance public infrastructure. It complements other initiatives, such as the introduction of zone inspectors and new equipment acquisitions aimed at improving road maintenance across the nation.
Citizens can look forward to downloading the app early next year, giving them a direct line to report and track the progress of repairs.
