Government to Offer $150 Incentive for Removal of Derelict Vehicles

The government will roll out a new program offering $150 to private individuals who help remove derelict vehicles tagged by police for disposal, as part of a national cleanup effort.

The Ministry of Urban Development will manage the initiative in partnership with the National Solid Waste Management Authority and the Development Control Authority. The agencies will verify marked vehicles and ensure they are transported and disposed of at the Cooks Landfill.

Officials say closer coordination among agencies will prevent delays and duplication seen in earlier cleanup drives.

The Ministry of Social and Urban Transformation is expected to announce dates, times, and designated drop-off or collection points, along with details on how people can participate.

Derelict vehicles have long posed problems in several communities, contributing to pollution, pests, blocked sidewalks, drainage issues, and hazards for residents.

  1. hope vehicles will actually get picked up with their being evidence because someone said two years ago that they picked up me dead dog name Rover from the side of the road but all now he still roaming strong strong..just that he has a bit of fleas.

  2. Look at confusion now…you guys don’t even start this because you have no way of managing things properly …. who’s responsible for the broken glass from the bus stops , who is responsible for cleaning them up? are y’all kidding me? What the hell!! you have bus stops on Fry’s hill Road and airport road with broken glass while people have to sit and wait for the bus… you’ll think all of the people are baboons maybe just the minions that’s following you’ll …

  3. Response to “Crooked Pathological Liar”
Maybe you should direct your comments to the person(s)who are responsible for smashing the glass every time they are replaced. That cost is borne by the taxpayers.
Maybe the Transport Board should look into utilising plexiglass as the solution !!!!!

  4. If I had a vehicle I would gleefully accept the $150 to remove the 2 shitty Nissan vehicles that are
eyesores on the road to The Orchard Supermarket in Bolans, high time to do something about them

  5. Derelict vehicles should not alone be focused on. There should be an on going program of discarding solid waste.
