Government Publishes Notice Of Intention To Sell Alfa Nero Super Yacht
The Government of Antigua and Barbuda has initiated the process to sell the Alfa Nero super yacht, by publishing the notice in its official paper, The Gazette.
The notice is expected to be carried in several international newspapers in coming days.
The owner is given notice that “should you fail to take all necessary steps to REMOVE the ALFA NERO”, it will be sold by the Port Authority.
It also refers the Alfa Nero as a ship owned or controlled by Andrey Grogoryevich Guryev, and moored at the Antigua Yacht Club Marina, Falmouth Harbour, Antigua.
The notice says the vessel is not being maintained by the owner or an agent for the owner, and poses a threat to the environment, the health and safety of persons using the harbor, and to the safety and security of other vessels in the harbour.
It declares that the Alfa Nero, which has been valued at US$81 million, is an abandoned vessel as defined by section 3 of the Port Authority (Amendment) Act 2023.
The proceeds of the imminent auction will be placed into the Consolidated Fund. (STATE MEDIA)

Will the real owner please come forward and move his boat from our port? We do not want it here.
The unfairness of this world is showing up so blatantly. People’s personal possessions are being confiscated all over the world by whose authority and whose laws. You think anyone can confiscate assets belonging to Americans, Brittens or Frenchmen? Why do you think we have this decades long boycott of Cuba. And why do you think they put a law in place called the Helms–Burton Act? Therefore, the USA and its allies can confiscate properties from any citizen all over the world they deem to be part of a regime they do not support; however, no one can ever dare to confiscate assets belonging to USA citizens. Makes you question; Who runs the WORLD? Who decides who can trade and who will starve?
@From The Sideline
Is this the real From The Sideline? This is the most intelligent posting you have ever made.
So true, mi haffi go lie down, gather my thoughts and reevaluate my views on Sideline … 😁
What the hell somebody tiefing Sidelines identity. Identity tief wise no F. So unlike our old guy!
Quick question. If Gaston is sucessfull in selling this yacht and then the rightful owners show up wanting their property and demand Antiguans have to pay back that money who Gaston going to borrow that money from IMF? Mmmmmmmm
The word on the street is that Russian lawyers are already in Antigua to represent the REAL owner of the yatch; alleged, Mr. Andrey Gurvey is not the official owner of the vessel. It’s going to be very interesting watching how this all plays out.
A side note: Lately, in Russia, a string of high profile people have mysteriously fallen to their deaths from windows in high-rise buildings…
Words of caution: phuck around and find out!
*Allegedly*
@From The Sideline
What happens if the real owner of the boat does not come forward to claim his possession? Don’t you find it somewhat odd that such valuable property has been left uncared for and neglected for such a long time? This must surely have crossed your mind at some point. If, as you say, you do not want the yacht here then what would you intend to do about it? Answers required, please. There are many countries that do not like the regimes of America, France or Britain but as far as I am aware neither of the three have invaded another country they covet causing death and devastation to the civilian population, destruction of hospitals, schools and infrastructure, all done deliberately for spite. Any country can sanction another or its citizens if they feel deeply aggrieved by its actions. It is not simply a matter of not liking any regime, this is not new, it is what that regime does and those who have grown fat because of their support and association with the leaders of such regimes that is the problem. We know who we are talking about, don’t we?
@oversee…does Grenada, Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan just to name a few ring any bells? They were all invaded by America under false pretences.
France and England are pitting the Cameroonians against each other for control of their piece of Africa!
BTW – there’s a Civil War(the media labels them #gang wars) being conducted in America’s Inner Cities where hundreds are murdered annually.
Nations like Antigua, Barbuda & REDONDA are sitting between a ‘rock and a hard place!’

@Ras Smood
The countries you named were not invaded for their territory. Grenada was invaded by the US rightly or wrongly because of the presence of North Korea’s presence there; North Korea being a communist country was regarded by America as a potential threat to the US. Libya had caused the death there of a US official and coupled with the dictatorship of President Ghaddafi triggered the invasion of the country. Again, it’s a point of view if they were justified in the action they took. Iraq under Saddam Hussain was believed to possess nuclear weapons which it was claimed falsely, as it turned out could be unleashed within 45 minutes. False intelligence. Afghanistan is in my opinion provides the best justification for invasion (my opinion). Recall the momentous events of 9/11, 11th September 2001 and the attack on the twin towers in New York. The head of Al Qaeda, Osama bin Laden who gave his blessing for the attack was given sanctuary by the Taliban in Afghanistan who refused to hand him over to the US giving the spurious reason that he was a guest in their country and therefore could not hand him over. You know the rest. Now you say France and England (UK) are pitting the Cameroonians against each other for control of their piece of Africa. Get real! France and UK gave Cameroon its independence. The area formerly under British control and that under France are at each others throats and the French speaking majority have the upper hand. It doesn’t need outside influences for Africans to tear each other apart. Check it out. Civil War as you call it in American cities is being waged by who against whom? Tell me.
I will tell you who wants to control Africa: Russia, under their mercenaries called the Wagner Group. You must have heard of them. Tread carefully!
@oversee
You have a short memory. Didn’t the US invade Iraq and destroyed the country? Didn’t the US and NATO destroy Libya?
Didn’t the US fight a war in South Vietnam? I will say all these wars were fought for the same reason as the Russian war in Ukraine. How many lives were lost in Vietnam, Libya, and Iraq?
@Think about it
Spare a little time to read my reply to Ras Smood. I do not wish to duplicate my post, suffice to say neither the US nor NATO have occupied any of the countries named. Cheers!
@oversee
If Mexico and Cuba put nuclear weapons in their country, on the USA border, what would the USA do? Have you heard of the Russian missiles crisis when the USA threatened nuclear war again Russia? You probably won’t believe that the west had biological and nuclear weapons in Ukraine.
Not sure Russia wants to takeover Ukraine, they however want a change in government. I believe Russia and the west are the same when looking after what they think are in their own interest.
Have you thought who supplies weapons to terrorist fighting to cause destabilization in Africa? Africa does not make weapons
Is Calvin going to buy it!!.
@ Think about it
Russia did put nuclear missiles in Cuba which caused the crisis between Russia and the US in 1962. Russia’s justification then was that the US had placed nuclear weapons in Turkey next door to the Russian border. I find it hard to fault Russia in their reasoning. Anyway, Presidents Kennedy and Khrushchev decided to withdraw their missiles respectively and nuclear conflict was avoided. You cannot be serious when you say you are not sure Russia wants to take over Ukraine. Really? That is what this war is all about under Putin. He has a vision of Russia and its borders as it was in the time of Catherine The Great and believes the Soviet Union should never have been broken up. He has made it clear he does not regard Ukraine as a real country, rather that it is a part of Russia. He knows full well that Ukraine became an independent country in 1991, his mentor Boris Yeltsin having given his approval. Look at Putin’s actions in Georgia where Russia now occupies about a fifth of that country and Crimea which he unlawfully annexed about four yeas ago. His eyes are now set on Moldova, we shall how that plays out. The terrorists fighting in Africa are none other than our peaceful so-called Islamic State, ha ha ha, whose idea of peace is murder and mayhem, this being the reason some African states have called on the Wagner Group for help. The Wagner Group? Check them out and see who they are very closely allied to.
@oversee
Me may not agree on some issues but at least you had an interesting discussion.
@Think about it
What are the issues?
Of course Antigua can confiscate abandoned property. The yacht may be leaking oil, sewage, gas and other stuff that is dangerous. It seems the owner has had ample time to get the property. The US confiscates property according to the rule of law. As long as rules are applied, then our country has the right to protect our natural areas and citizens as well. The owner may even be glad to get rid of it.
