The government says work is under way to address safety concerns at the site known as the “Big Gutter”, following reports from members of the community.
Senator Michael Joseph said the issue had been brought to the government’s attention and that action was being taken “as quickly as possible”.
As part of the response, the Director of the Ministry of Works, Collis King, carried out a site visit to assess the extent of the problem and determine the repairs required.

According to the government, all concrete slabs at the site will be replaced. Cleanup and preparatory work has already started and is expected to continue into the coming week.
Mr Joseph said feedback from residents played an important role in highlighting problems on the ground, allowing authorities to respond more effectively when concerns are raised in a constructive manner.
He added that the government’s priority was to deliver practical solutions and improve public safety through stronger and more reliable infrastructure.

Will Senator Michael Joseph be honest for once.
The concerns were brought to the government’s attention by the hardest working parliamentary representative on the island.
Joseph is looking an advantage and is afraid to mention the name of Honorable Richard Lewis.
However every turn he takes seeking an advantage Hon Richard Lewis is steps ahead.
It would do good for his conscience if only he gives flowers where and when they are deserving.
Is he fearful that should he identify Hon Richard Lewis he will fall further back?
Michael Joseph, your role is one of community advocate.
Irrespective of who gets praise you should not hide the truth.
Election in de air!! Fix-up, Fix-up!!
Antigua( public works specifically)needs to do better. Nothing but word of God lasts forever so if something is built inspecting and maintaining it is a must. Don’t wait for it to pose a hazard to say you’re doing something. Residents don’t be afraid to make noise when you see something that needs to be fixed. Sound the alarm because a closed mouth doesn’t get fed.
What about the hole in the road at the corner of Newgate and Charles Henry Lane below the St. Johns Cathedral? Too many cars have lost parts just going through there.
WHAT ABOUT ALL SAINTS???
Maria Bird-Browne was supposed to have made some sort of announcement on the start date a few weeks ago. What happened to that promise?
I told you that she wasn’t fit for office…
… Also, I love it when these politicians chat ah whole heap fa#t, because the more dem chitter chatter, just gives me more to pull them up on. Lovely!
You have to say something for something to get done
At least they responding. I’ll give credit where it’s due
