The training, led by the Ministries of Finance and Works, focuses on preparing effective bids, meeting technical requirements and managing projects from start to finish.

Officials said the workshop is intended to help contractors secure more local and regional opportunities.

Works Minister Maria Browne called the initiative a strategic investment in the economy, saying the government wants a more competitive construction sector that can support national development and expand into regional markets.

  1. There are probably lots of experienced workmen who can take their business up to the next level regionally etc. with such training in management etc. There are also lots of youth who need employment. If we expand this sector, we would have no shortage of skilled workers locally as well as regional opportunities for young people.

  2. It’s encouraging to see partnerships with organizations like the Caribbean Development Bank. Brings expertise and credibility to the training.

  3. What about the establishments that are protecting new homeowners from shady scamming contractors. Where is the government initiative to provide a place where potential new homeowners can go and find a list of reliable and trustworthy contractors?

  4. A lot of contractors need that information. Hopefully all of National Housing contractors attended as well, including the ones who build crucked structures

  5. When is Maria going to challenge for the leadership of the party. Seems as though she is the most competent Minister now, at least she is not into the guttersniping as the present leader
