Government to Expand CCTV Network Amid Crime Spike
The Minister for Technologies, Melford Nicholas, has confirmed the government is purchasing additional surveillance equipment to support police in tackling crime hotspots. The move follows requests from national security agencies, including the police, army, and ONCDP.
Speaking on Observer AM, Nicholas said the $2 million EC expansion—excluding operational costs—is already underway, with equipment expected to arrive within four weeks. Installation will begin shortly after.
The initiative reflects the government’s urgency in responding to recent spikes in criminal activity.

Anything that can uplift the country I am good for it. So as long as these things actually materialize then they have my blessings. I always find this is slow in coming. Let us hurry this up.
Hmmm. Something I hope can begin like ASAP. And no fool fool camera. Give us something real Melford. We want cameras that even sound alarm on suspicious activities. I want to see the cameras going up from today as well!!
Not one good thing the government can do and typical Antiguans just give a thumbs up and move on. The negativity always has to come in, just sickening. Anyway. Good way of giving protection.
How much this costing taxpayers though?
is someone going to be monitoring them 24/7?
Good Move!
