Government Commits $1.25M for Repairs to Barbuda Council Administrative Building

The government has allocated $1.25 million for repairs, upgrades, and furnishing of the Barbuda Council Administrative Building. Senator Knacyntar Nedd, speaking during the 2025 budget debate, emphasized the importance of the investment for improving governance on the island.

“This investment is a clear demonstration of the government’s commitment to empowering the Barbuda Council and ensuring that it has the resources to carry out its duties effectively,” she said.

She highlighted the central role of the building in the council’s operations and its impact on service delivery.

“A functional administrative building is critical to the council’s ability to deliver essential services to the community,” Senator Nedd stated.

Addressing concerns about temporary disruptions during the renovation, she assured that displaced services would resume in the upgraded facility.

“This is a necessary step to ensure that the council can meet the needs of the growing population in Barbuda,” she said. “Once the building is fully restored, it will greatly improve the council’s capacity to serve the community.”

Senator Nedd concluded by calling on the council to maximize the benefits of the improved facility.

“This is not just about infrastructure; it’s about strengthening governance and empowering the council to work more effectively for the people of Barbuda,” she added.
