Golden Grove Primary School Vandalism Disrupts African History Event

One of 12 classroom sessions conducted by Hands Literacy Links, Vernest Mack, during weekly visits with Golden Grove Primary School during the Summer Literacy Programme.

Golden Grove Primary School’s intended day of celebration and African history education took a distressing turn as the school fell victim to vandalism overnight.

Perpetrators set fires, damaged books, defaced classrooms, and ruined essential school property.

Principal Mae Hypolite, who was nearby at a meeting, heard a fire tender and rushed to the scene, expressing her concern about the ongoing destruction.

She pleaded with the community to address this issue with their children.

Upon arrival, she found the fire services already at work.

The incident deeply upset her, displacing four classrooms and marking the third such incident since the new school year began.

  1. Different times we live in. I remembered when this school had three buildings and a so-called bathroom, no fences, a big mango tree in the front yard and a play field that was utilized by everyone especially Nut Grove, we had even hooked up our own basketball half court where man like the talented MONTIGUE, now resides in Barbuda use to play.
As a Pathfinder on sunday mornings we had many a workout there and at nights it was open to any association as a place for meetings, not forgetting the annual fete.
A total different Generation we are seeing with nothing to do, yes! we had nothing to do back then also but breaking into schools, churches or anything place at all was never on our minds.
