Gaston poses no threat to Antigua, the Caribbean

The center of Tropical Storm Gaston was located near latitude 34.7 North, longitude 44.4 West.  Gaston is moving toward the north-northeast near 17 mph (28 km/h).

A turn to the northeast is expected on Wednesday, followed by a motion to the east.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts.  Additional strengthening is forecast during the next day or two.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km) from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1009 mb (29.80 inches).

SURF:  Swells generated by Gaston are expected to affect the Azores later this week.

These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.

  4. Gaston the Tropical Storm is not a threat. However,Gaston Browne is a threat to lives and limbs of the people of Antigua and Barbuda. Time to vote them out.

    • I hear you, but will a change of government make any difference?

      I have no preference for red or blue, as far as I can see they’re both the same, tell the people what they want to hear, make myself rich

      I’ll vote for the first party that sets up a truly independent body against corruption. Something that has the power to investigate and prosecute all corrupt activities, from policeman with their illegal dark tinted windows on their cars to cabinet members awarding themselves or their families contracts or lands.its time we ended this injustice,.

      We need a true leader, one who will be the example to rest of the region, where the same corruption erodes the ordinary peoples wellbeing. Instead I guess we will have more of the same, with either the red tribe or the blue tribe hailing their respective leaders/ masters and turning a blind eye to the corruption that costs everyone dearly.

          I must have missed where they wanted to clean up the political class. As far as I can see, they just want to get their snouts in the trough. Might be wrong, but not seeing policies that would suggest otherwise

        LEAVE (not so easy these days to get into Uncle Sam country)
        STAY HOME, DON’T VOTE
        VOTE WHO YOU VOTED FOR THE LAST TIME (EVEN THOUGH YOU KNOW THEY NO GOOD)
        PUT YOURSELF UP IN THE POLITICAL FIELD TO MAKE THINGS BETTER or
        SHUT YOUR PIE HOLE AND READ YOUR BIBLE HOPING FOR A MIRACLE

        • Not easy to get into “uncle sam” country? We no longer have borders, just walk on in.
          Kind of ironic that you can just walk in and be a u.s. citizen but Antigua is kinda particular of who gets admission.

      Lovell do not need to damage anything. Antigua is already destroyed by ABLP and Gaston Brown and his minions and ministers through their self-enrichment schemes.

      If there were no such schemes, Antiguans would have prosperity galore and would have been offered stimuli during covid and now the cost of living crisis, like how EVERY GOVERNMENT IN THE WORLD DID FOR THEIR RESIDENTS, SO GO ON SINGING FOR YOUR SUPPER. IDIOT.

        3 trillion dollars of “covid stimuli” has caused u.s. inflation to spike over 9 percent and prices for EVERYTHING to rise to historic levels, destroying the lower and middle classes in this country. The u.s. government paid people to not work, now we’re at 61 percent labor participation.
        You need to do some serious studying going forward…

  8. I’ve asked this question before but never have gotten an answer: how does Lovell propose to pay for all his lofty and grandiose plans?

    • Harold Lovell and UPP should have in place all his financial backers and political allies lined up when Gaston “Mi Soon Come” Browne is kicked our of office at the next General Election.

      I’m no politician, but if UPP hasn’t prepared for this eventuality, then Antigua is in a lot of trouble.

      IF THIS IS IN MY THOUGHT PROCESS FOR THE BETTERMENT OF THE COUNTRY, I HOPE AND PRAY THAT UPP HAS ALREADY PREPARED THEMSELVES, BECAUSE ABLP WILL MAKE SURE THAT THE COFFERS ARE EMPTY WHEN THEY LOSE …
