Hon Richard Lewis said: Gaston Browne, stop insulting our people’s intelligence with your weak deflection, and answer the questions I asked you.
Stop running away from transparency and accountability.
Unlike the printing of many thousands of copies of my textbook since 2001, which represents actual value for money, we still have no evidence that this suspicious arrangement with your son is anything but another creative enrichment scheme.
I will continue to press you for the answers, in the public interest, and I will deal with your inaccurate information about my textbook, in another forum.
You do not handle pressure well, and that is not good for a leader.
Your son is the sole director and shareholder of IF Antigua Inc. The property in question is owned by your son and not by an “investment group” as you claimed in Parliament. The sad thing is that you do not see anything wrong with this deal. You need to research the meaning of the word nepotism.
By the way, answer the questions that I have asked:
- Was the property originally owned by West Indies Oil Company?
- How did your son acquire the property?
- Was the information of the proposed sale of the property by WIOC shared with the public?
- Why did Government decide to rent property from your son, without disclosing that to the general public?
- Did the rental go out to tender before being awarded to the your son?
- Did the fact that all government offices within your son’s building fall under the Ministerial Portfolio of your wife Hon. Maria Browne influence the decision? And did your wife play a part in the decision?
- Did the Government spend a fair amount on the repairs?
- How could you, the Prime Minister, claim that what is owed in rent exceeds what the Government spent on repairs, yet be unable to give even an estimated figure on the cost to the tax-paying public?
Government resources must be spent in a responsible and accountable way, especially by an administration that is raising taxes left and right and center.

Well highlighted your Honourable Richard Lewis.
Every single day, the citizens of Antigua are waking up to Gaston Browne’s wiley ways. I myself have been talking about his “dead cat” narratives for as long as I can remember.
Western countries use deflection as a tactic, especially when their economies are in dire straights.
For example, in the UK, since leaving the European Union (and better known as brexit), their economy has tumbled; the £ has fallen to virtually its lowest level; food shelves in supermarkets are empty; high street shops are closing down at a faster rate than any time in their history; and figures recently released claim they are also “technically” in a recession.
And guess what the UK’S government’s focus is on?
Yep, the influx of foreigners, who they deem as the problem to their current economic woes.
The REAL definition of a dead cat narrative.
Gaston Browne is doing the exact same thing to hoodwink the gullible and the simple regarding a plethora of issues that requires immediate transparency.
Keep the pressure on Richard! Hold his feet to the fire! Pretty soon it will be so hot, it will burn! Then, let it burn to ashes!
It’s a characteristic of dishonest politicians. Deflect and deflect and deflect until the issue goes away.
I have come to the view a very long time ago that our political culture and particularly our political is almost nonexistent. What the majority of citizens do understand or realize that the situation with Gaston’s wife and the SHARE Charity and the present situation with his son and how he acquired the WIOC property on Friars Hill Road, would be enough in many countries to warrant investigations and the calling for heads to roll. It is just not good governance. The Prime Minister needs to stop trying to evade the issue and also stop mixing apples and oranges in his comparison of the sale of Richard Lewis’ textbook sales through the Board of Education and his son’s WIOC scandal.
and particularly our political morality
Sometime when some people say they want nothing to do with politics, you have to understand.
As recent as one week ago, Richard Lewis was the man and Jamal Pringle was the worst thing, Can’t read, can’t write, can’t talk. This of course was to the red people. All of them were cussing him.
Suddenly they realized that it appears Lewis will get the nod as leader, and well, it is now “poor Pringle. Dem a treat ee bad. No respect dey giving him.”
Man, these politicians are the best. Pringle now has status as a poor thing with the reds. They know that if Lewis gets the nod as leader, it will be hell to pay for them. Gaston Browne is panicking, and Point that used to say he is the best person to lead the party is finding all kind ah name to call Mr Lewis.
Well, well, well.
Wonder how that is making Alister feel? He and Gaston Browne now sharing the same stage. The two of dem beating up on Lewis and praising Pringle to the moon and back.
Alister, this does not look good for you. You and the Dawg cheering on the same politician in the UPP leadership race?
Soon he will be calling you too to come over because you share his thinking.
@ GASTON
Answer THE DAM QUESTIONS!!
YOU DAM PARTISAN.
ONLY YOU AND U PICKNEY N WIFE AND ALL YOU MINIONS AT POINT FM SUPPOSE TO EAT BREAD, YOU WICKED EVIL AND FORLORN SOUL.
ANSWER THE QUESTIONS!!!
Wake Up! Stand up! Speak Up! A leader is emerging.
It is obvious that MP Richard Lewis is on to something.
Gaston Browne only answers when he is cornered like a dog is to lash out. Gaston on defense is go low with unfounded name calling.
We now know your history; when you are caught, you go low it’s because you are guilty.
Your days of going low are coming to an end.
Answer the questions, Gaston. Your old game of attack and degrade does not work any longer. Antiguans are getting smarter and more informed. They have learned your game.
Answer the questions you LUNATIC!!!!!ANTIGUANS WAKEUP AND TAKE BACK YOUR COUNTRY, WATCH HAITI 🇭🇹…….Time to give this government the END of their rope, majority rule always………Let’s get them crooks out of office, get them restless in their homes
What does a lack of answers mean in this instance?
PM Browne you will not be allowed to go silent. Answer the questions. Should you attempt to degrade and deflect, there will be additional questions.
You will not be allowed to hide behind your silence and protected by your PR mavins whether here in Antigua or in Washington DC.
Come clean for once, PM Browne.
Putting politics aside, on the face of it, this thing doesn’t really look good. Building formally owned by WIOC. Now who are the Directors for WIOC? is the son acting as owner for someone else? It is the kinds of things that begs a lot of questions and certainly doesn’t look good.
The documents previously posted shows IF (the company) involved in the reaction was formed when the son was a student.
That being so, another logical question is whether the son was a student when he supposably bought the building.
Who were the members of the Board of Directors of WIOC at the time of purchase?
What can they, the Bd of Directors tell the public as a result of Richard Lewis initial questions about the purchase?
This matter pale in comparison to the Robert Linguist report on the IHI Japan loan repayment, over US$60 millions gone agwassa….buried and forgotten. Just so …pooh.
The sycophants like Dave Ray and others will twist themselves like a pretzels trying to defend the indefensible.
I do not carry no card for Gaston Brown. This looks very bad and should be answered. I have not been in Antigua for almost 20 years and my loyalty lies in the future of my homeland. The wealth of the PM and his family needs to be investigated. I was accused in this forum of being on “the take.” At this moment as constituted the UPP is not ready. My UPP team is; Harrold Lovell -Pm, Sheffield Bowen Deputy PM, Jackie Quen, Joan Massia, Bertram Joseph, Shawn Nicholas, John Magenley,
Antiguans need to worry about things like this going on in their country and the fact that they have no roads, no running water and a shitty hospital in the year 2024 and STOP WORRY AND POSTING AMERICA AND DONALD TRUMP.. YALL HAVE YALL OWN DONAL TRUMP IN ANTIGUA
@Charlesworth Tabor,UPP enacted a law against corruption in 2004? Are these laws still in force? From my limited understanding of the law, Gaston Browne and many of his cabinet are in a spot of bother.
A man who entered 2014 with nothing, as per Asot Michael, now boast of millions. It is obvious where it came from and this matter at hand is just the tip of the iceberg.
Gaston Browne will continue to deflect, resort to mudslinging slinging and personal attacks in the hope that it will go away. People, let ensure that it doesn’t.Men and women have gone to jail for less.
@ Watching
I agree.
A man that use to bounce cheques in opposition is now one of (if not the richest) man in Antigua apart from those like the Hadeeds that have grown organically.
People people do not get rich overnight unless they are doing something illegal.
While I do not wish to question your statement about the source or method by which the Prime Minister got his wealth; I take issue with the part of your statement about the Hadeeds having grown organically.
There was a time when Hadeeds took over LIAT (1974) and were floating shares to recapitalize LIAT (1974) in the 1990s. It brought me into the company of one of Antigua’s inner circles.
At the invitation of a well-known discredited individual, for approximately two months I witnessed the Antigua and Barbuda Kitchen Cabinet in sessions; hosted by Aziz Hadeed and chaired by Robin Yearwood, which took place most weekdays at Hadeeds after work.
Please do away with the myth that the Hadeeds grew organically.
