A gas leak at the Deluxe building on Thursday has led to the evacuation of nearby businesses and the Magistrate Court.

Emergency services, including the Fire Department and the West Indies Oil Company, responded quickly to secure the area.

Construction in the vicinity has also been suspended while crews work to contain the leak and ensure public safety.

  1. Oh dear Lord, all kinds of unusual things taking place all over the world these days.
Glad they caught this one before and destruction could have taken place. That would have been a dilemma.

  2. Can someone please tell me where the gas leak was and from what? Not unless they installed gas lines under the streets over night. For those who are not familiar with Antigua and Barbuda we do have underground gas lines, only 20lbs and 100lbs cylinders. Not saying that gas leak is not cause for concerns but to shut down that whole area is just authorities trying to make themselves more important than they are.
