GARD Center Empowers Women with Hydroponics Training

1

The Gilbert Agricultural and Rural Development (GARD) Center is launching a new hydroponics training course aimed at empowering women in traditionally male-dominated fields.

The program, starting in March, offers free spots for the first 20 participants.

Executive Director June Jackson urged women to seize the opportunity, highlighting the course’s focus on food security and its collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture.

“Participants will gain hands-on experience and leave with their own mini hydroponics unit,” Jackson explained.

The initiative also extends to schools, with Pares Secondary and Glanvilles Secondary students receiving training during their agricultural classes.

Successful participants will earn certificates and on-site units to continue hydroponics education. Additionally, incarcerated individuals will benefit from the program.

Beyond hydroponics, GARD Center offers other courses, including office administration, soap-making, beekeeping, sewing, baking, and customer service.

Registration is now open via the GARD Center website (gardc.org) or by calling 463-4121/727-4121. Classes begin on February 3.
