As eight of Antigua’s finest brought grace, poise, and talent to the stage at the Antigua Recreation Grounds last evening, it was evident that sooner or later one young lady would emerge on top and have their life changed forever.
Ayanna Dorsette was announced the 2017 winner of the Ace Enterprise Miss Antigua and Barbuda Pageant after competing in the segments of Performing Talent, Platform, Swim-Wear, Evening Wear and Interview (Pre-Show).
Segments all the delegates brought passion, creativity, and impact to using their own unique style and insight.
Dorsette snagged the awards for Most Spirited, Opening Segment, Best Costume and Best Platform.
Speaking to Antigua News Room (ANR) immediately following the show, the newly crowned Dorsette said she is very humbled by her triumph and is ready to take on her role as an ambassador for the twin island state.
The Prizes for the Miss Antigua and Barbuda Winner this year includes a brand new Ace Ssangyong Korando Jeep compliments Harney Motors Limited, a Civil Engineering Home Plan valued at over $20,000.00, two airline tickets compliments LIAT 1974 Ltd, a Gold Watch and Bracelet compliments Columbian Emeralds, a Smart Television compliments Town House Mega Store, $5000.00 in cash among other prizes.
Other winners from last evening’s competition include;
1st Runner-up Rohanna Smith who walked away with the awards for Best Swim-Wear, Evening Wear and Most Disciplined,
2nd Runner-up Affianna Rodney who won the awards for Performing Talent, Most Congenial and the Flows People’s Choice Award and 3rd Runner-up Shaquan Yorke who received the award for the Best Interview.
Unplaced contestants Linyka Lee captured the Most Photogenic Award, Odelia Deazer took home the Award for Most Improved and the Most Style Award went to Daniele Fabian.
This years’ production saw entertainment from The Shiva’s School of dance along with local soca stars Tanzania “Tizzy” Sebastian and Tian Winter.
“Reclaiming Our Pride” was the theme of the show this year which was maintained consistently throughout the entire production. which was of a very high standard thanks to the usual expertise of Creative Director Mr. Richard Young and the hard working members of the Miss Antigua and Barbuda Pageant Committee and the Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission.
