French authorities are searching for Daniel Jones, a boat captain who went missing Tuesday night while sailing from Antigua to Dominica.

Passengers told officials that Jones lost his balance and fell overboard around 11 p.m. after ducking to avoid a swinging sail amid strong winds. The vessel later arrived safely in Guadeloupe, where it remains moored as French maritime officials lead the search effort.

Jones has not been seen since the incident, and authorities have not yet confirmed whether rough sea conditions played a role in his disappearance.

  1. “…Jones lost his balance and fell overboard around 11 p.m. after ducking to avoid a swinging sail amid strong winds.”

WOW! That must’ve been one helluva sail. Praying that he is found safe.

  2. I dont believe this story 1 bit how can some1 see when a man lost balance drop over board and u cnt fine tht man unless him done dead becore going in the water and sink asap but no way a man slip ova board and nah ball fi help if nothing no wrong wid him chupzzz

  3. Someone push he over boss. Cas, why the boat never stop n everyone turn on dem phone light n look over n another crew member don’t throw over a float for him to grab on? He must scream help. It would be natural to da that. What is really going on?

  4. Were other persons on board, if so all should be in Police custody, until the truth is revealed

  5. Truly very, very sad. Lots of questions but who dare answer. Something seems fishy and scary about this. Could be true but, I do not believe as I read. Got to be something more sinister in the mix.

  6. Absolutely nothing “fishy” here. Very easy to slip, trip or overbalance on rocking boat especially in windy conditions and more especially at night. Once in the sea in the dark it would take all of 5 or more minutes traveling away from him to sort the sails enough and start the engine to start to turn the boat round and in that time he would be over 300 metres or more away in the pitch black of the night and without a life jacket no doubt. It would be difficult in daylight all but impossible at night.
Tragic though, he was a great bloke who’d readily help anyone and had a had a smile for everyone
