Member of Parliament for St. George, Antigua and Barbuda, Michael Freeland, has called for renewed investment in youth development following his participation in the New Winthorpes Primary School graduation ceremony last week.

Addressing the Class of 2025, Freeland congratulated the graduates and underscored the importance of education in shaping the nation’s future.

“It was my honour to celebrate with the graduating class of New Winthorpes Primary, witnessing the culmination of years of hard work by bright young minds,” he said.

During the ceremony, Freeland presented a scholarship to Salem Winston, this year’s Salutatorian, enabling him to attend Antigua Grammar School — the MP’s own alma mater.

“I know he will continue to excel and make our community proud,” Freeland said, praising Winston’s academic achievement and potential.

Freeland used the occasion to urge greater commitment to ensuring that every child in St. George has access to meaningful educational opportunities.

“Our young people deserve nothing less than our full support and investment,” he said. “Let us all redouble our commitment to supporting youth development.”

He also extended congratulations to the families and educators who helped guide the graduates, affirming his belief in the students’ potential to become future leaders.

“Their education is the foundation upon which they’ll build their dreams and contribute to our nation’s growth,” Freeland added.

Antigua and Barbuda New Winthorpes Primary School Class of 2025 is the latest group of students to complete their primary education in the St. George constituency, amid ongoing efforts to strengthen academic support at the community level.

  1. Congratulations young man. Put God first. Kudos to MICHAEL FREELAND

  2. So no one was deserving of sponsorship prior to Freeland being elected as the labour party caretaker for the constituency?????
I dont think it because he was broke.
He touched the auction money so he could have sponsored as.many styde ts as he wished if he wanted to.
It seems to me that laboRATs will not choose who to use in their dirty game.
Not even a fan did he donate the that very school whe. The heat was unbearable.
He had not been selected as the flag bearer then.
Today he is rich, dirty rich.
He can sponsor the entire school.
Where is the money coming from?

  3. Wait let me get straight. The article states that Michael honored the student with a scholarship, enabling him to attend the Antugua Grammar School. Did this child pass to go there or Michael is now putting him there because of his stance with ALP. Why should Michael give preference to only one student. The article need to give more information on this. Or I don’t know if the wording of the scholarship was incorrectly stated. The key word “enabling” indicate thar the child was sent to another school but he got him to attend another institution. Plz enlighten us cus the MoE had made it clear that students should attend the school assigned because of geographical lication.

  4. You are a joke Micheal .. I’m still waiting for you to change the “LOCKED” POWELLS CRICKET FIELD that only opens when the big grown children playing cricket or when the key holders doing there afternoon walks … you guys are so bias.. I use to great you Micheal with saying “PLEASE” now I just look at you as a opportunities that sings for his supper …. Keep on .. GOD IS REAL…

  5. If you simply do your research, you can use his name and check the publicly posted list of students assigned to AGS… not that hard. The boy made it there on his own merit so yes the article was misleading in that regard.

  6. You are a joke Darrell , .. I’m still waiting for you to change the “LOCKED” POWELLS CRICKET FIELD that only opens when the big grown children playing cricket or when the key holders doing there afternoon walks … you guys are so bias..
