Plant2Plate Backyard Gardening Competition Expands to Barbuda
The Plant2Plate Backyard Gardening Competition is expanding to Barbuda, with organizers set to host registration and free seedling distribution on the sister isle later this month.
Residents of Barbuda are invited to register as backyard gardeners and collect seedlings on Thursday, January 29, 2026, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., as the initiative continues its effort to strengthen household food production and promote food security.
The programme is being coordinated by the Agricultural Extension Division as part of the government’s broader Plant2Plate initiative.

Seedlings available for distribution include watermelon, cucumber, tomato, lettuce, eggplant, sweet pepper and Chinese cabbage.
Plant2Plate encourages residents to grow food at home, reduce dependence on imports and support long-term food security across Antigua and Barbuda.
