Free Health Screenings for Barbuda at August 23 Wellness Fair

2

Free health screenings will return to Barbuda later this month as the Medical Benefits Scheme (MBS) stages its Community Health and Wellness Fair on 23 August at Holy Trinity School.

The event follows July’s Summer Days of Wellness initiative, which offered screenings, nutrition advice, diabetic foot checks, self-management programmes, yoga sessions and children’s activities.

This month’s fair will feature blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, HbA1c, BMI, prostate and breast examinations, as well as basic dental care, nutrition counselling and pharmacy consultations.

MBS says the outreach helps overcome logistical challenges that often limit Barbudans’ access to specialist healthcare. The Aid Secretariat will also provide testing during the event, which runs from 09:00 to 14:00.

  1. Good initiative. On many occasions we only cater people on the mainland and forget Barbuda. So im happy that they are included

  2. This is a great opportunity for the people of Barbuda to get their health checked. Free screenings for things like blood pressure and diabetes are so important for preventative care, and they help catch potential issues before they become serious problems. I hope everyone in Barbuda takes advantage of this and gets to know their numbers. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!
