A Golden Grove man has admitted to attempting to kill two hotel workers during a 2023 shooting outside Carlisle Bay Resort and is now awaiting sentencing in the High Court.
Frederick Henry pleaded guilty on Monday to one count of attempted murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and shooting with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Justice officials scheduled sentencing for July 21.
The charges stem from an incident on April 11, 2023, when two employees of the Old Road resort were shot as they left work at approximately 11:30 p.m.
According to court records, the victims, Dane Anthony and Morrisa Henry, were walking toward the property’s gate at the end of their shifts when they were targeted.
Anthony sustained at least two gunshot wounds, while Morrisa Henry suffered multiple gunshot injuries to her arms and side.
Despite his injuries, Anthony reportedly made his way back to the hotel lobby to seek assistance. Both victims were transported to hospital, treated for their injuries, and later discharged.
Henry has remained before the court as the matter progressed through the criminal justice system. His guilty plea brings the case to a close without the need for a trial.
The court is expected to consider the seriousness of the offences, the impact on the victims, and any mitigating factors before imposing sentence next month.

Mr. Ralston Pumpy, I am in agreement with this article. These attorneys are fooling off families or defendants in very serious cases after thousands and ten thousand dollars from them .
Sir I think this advice is coming from the idea where judges, have given lesser punishment or sentence for not wasting the court time.
The case where the guy from Suriname had killed the guy Browne in All Saints. The murderer nick name was Red Rat. When the case was called, Red Rat went into the court and pleaded guilty and apologized.
I can distinctly remember it being said that the short sentence was because he did not waste the court time. He served a short sentence and was deported back to his country.
On the other hand a young man from the same village had raped his X girlfriend. His sentence was much more than the Red Rat. During the trial he and his X had made things up to the point they had a next child. She told the court that she could not recall. She was compelled to recall or face jail time.
The case was appealed later and turned over by the Caribbean Appeal Court.
So yes the lawyers here take their money and tell them it’s a plea bargain.
So on the advice of his attorney he pleaded guilty to attempt murder. Let’s see if the judge going to give him a lighter sentence for not wasting his and the court time.
By the way I am of the opinion that the rapist got off the hook by getting involved with her again as strategy. It was just not an ordinary rape . He pushed a bottle inside of her.
