United Progressive Party (UPP) candidate Franz DeFreitas has predicted that the January 14 by-election in St Peter will spark a series of political events, including another by-election and an early general election in Antigua and Barbuda. Speaking at a rally on Thursday night, DeFreitas described the upcoming vote as a pivotal moment for the nation.

“This by-election is just the beginning,” he said. “After January 14, we’ll see another by-election, and a general election is right around the corner. The people of St Peter will lead the charge to dismantle the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP).”

DeFreitas criticised the ABLP’s governance, accusing the party of neglecting the needs of St Peter’s residents. He pointed to issues such as youth unemployment, inadequate education systems, and a lack of community development as evidence of the government’s failures.

“The ABLP has abandoned the people of St Peter,” DeFreitas said. “This constituency deserves better, and January 14 is your chance to demand it.”

He strongly endorsed UPP candidate George Wehner, praising his dedication to the community and his plans to address key challenges facing the constituency. DeFreitas characterised Wehner as a “leader who listens and acts,” urging voters to support him as the next representative for St Peter.

“George Wehner has the vision and the commitment to bring real change to St Peter,” DeFreitas said. “He is ready to tackle the issues that have been ignored for far too long.”

DeFreitas accused Prime Minister Gaston Browne and ABLP candidate Rawdon Turner of taking St Peter for granted, describing their approach to the constituency as disrespectful and self-serving.

“The people of St Peter are not political pawns,” he said. “This by-election is their opportunity to send a clear message to the ABLP: enough is enough.”

DeFreitas positioned the by-election as a crucial turning point, not only for St Peter but for Antigua and Barbuda as a whole. He called on voters to set the tone for a new era of accountability in government.

“This is more than a by-election,” he said. “It’s a chance to start a movement for change across the nation.”

DeFreitas reiterated his prediction of further political upheaval, suggesting that the St Peter vote could trigger a domino effect leading to broader elections.

“St Peter is just the start,” he said. “This by-election will be the beginning of the end for Gaston Browne and the ABLP. Change is coming, and it starts on January 14.”

  4. This man is very articulate and should be in the Senate since last election, David massiah should bow out the Senate and give Franz that platform for his mobility against cutie, but it’s like people in upp leadership don’t want nobody upset them, they gotta look like the brain behind speeches and no one else.

  5. Bi election and election this waste of space obviously loves the sound of his own voice. Two years in government and the PM is afraid of losing the government to the disenfranchised UPP so he should call a snap election, waste money to win seats he doesn’t need to prove what? The money he’s saving he can use to fix a road & pay back pay.
The PM made promises to the Antiguan people that he needs to fulfill. Water, Roads, Back pay, education, and healthcare need attention and he’s going to call an election for what purpose?
If Duncy bat poor excuse for a husband and man Bulling bud Frantz knew anything about politics and the political climate he’d shut his flappy mouth and know the last thing the PM will do is call an early election.
Frantz go find a real job and become the man your wife desires. She wants a Leader a head of household. These uneducated ramblings will keep her chastity belt intact. You are pathetic.
Frantz is nothing but a Loser and tax evading nimrod.

  6.
