Four Antiguans selected to the West Indies squad for the upcoming ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup departed the island on Monday, Jan. 4, ahead of the tournament in Namibia and Zimbabwe.

Matthew Miller, Jewel Andrew, Micah McKenzie and Tanez Francis were named among the region’s top young players and will represent the Caribbean at the World Cup, scheduled from Jan. 15 to Feb. 6.

Their selection adds to Antigua and Barbuda’s long cricketing lineage, which has produced West Indies greats including Sir Vivian Richards, Sir Richie Richardson, Sir Andy Roberts and Sir Curtly Ambrose.

The quartet will now prepare to compete on the global stage as part of the West Indies’ bid for Under-19 World Cup honours.
