Young, April 20, 2022

Politician Trevor Young, once a United Progressive Party candidate in the 2019 general elections, officially joined the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) after briefly aligning with the Democratic National Alliance in 2022.

Young, who resigned from the UPP in 2021 amid internal disputes, announced his new affiliation on Facebook, citing the ABLP’s inclusive stance toward non-nationals.

Chief of Staff Max Hurst confirmed Young’s party switch, describing the ABLP as a cohesive entity that forgives past grievances.

Hurst emphasized the importance of new members promoting unity and support within the party.

    • @ Peeping Tom: Please keep yr head Mr. PM… They are all coming over because the ABLP grass is green….. So since they can’t defeat you in order to get their way, they have decided to join with you so that can get what they are looking for, for their personal gain…… They have become political prostitutes. Check the Talking Point show & the Browne & Browne show, the prostitutes are all showcase there

  1. Hypocrites condemn and jump from ship to ship for opportunities not on integrity.

Next stop we might hear he join go green because he can’t get to lead the party

  2. This is no real surprise to anyone who has been following the demise of the DNA party.

Of course they will jump ship to the ABLP, because they kept Gaston Browne in power at the last General Election (by 13 votes, I might add).

UPP wouldn’t want anything to do with these – compromising – turncoats.

Watch the ABLP try to get political mileage out of these DNA lovers. Guaranteed!

    MORE TO FOLLOW …

    • You forget he was a part of UPP first leave DNA out of this. Harold knows what they did to Joanne that’s. KARMA is real. Spit in the sky it will fall back in your face.

      • @ Carol, and while you are pointing your finger 👉🏾 at UPP for standing firm against deserters, remember there are 3 directed at ABLP for their current desperate measures. Simple!

    • People connect with the party with vision and productivity. Despite the few projects that might have fallen through the cracks, the Labour Party has brought most advancement to the country. Even the blind can see.

Many others would like to cross the floor but are afraid of the backlash from the opposition party as they have observed the unpleasant names others have called simply they have decided to move on to more enterprising organization.

The development projects being sanctioned by current administration are creating waves among the society. Thus causing young talent to want to be associated with progress.

Look the PLH and Paradise Found projects in Barbuda

Look at the redevelopment of the cruise port, elevating us to attaining the award of Best Comprehensive Cruise in the Caribbean.

Look at the plans for the construction of a dock with parks and commercial spaces connecting the Deep Water Harbour and Heritage Quay.

Look at the UWI Five Islands Campus, a fast- paced growing institution, giving second chances to many while alleviating the hassle for many young people who cannot afford to leave for tertiary education elsewhere, or they have continuing responsibilities which require their hands-on support.

Look at the ongoing Housing Project affording many the opportunity to own their first home.

Look at the newly established relationship with China with 10 agreements to assist in the development of our country over years to come.

Look at the vision to singlehandedly maintain LIAT in our Caribbean skies others didn’t see vision.

We could go on and on about the accomplishments of the Labour Party, causing others to want to sign up in droves.

Many young talent are choosing to align with the party to offer themselves up for public service.

The Labour Party can boast of being the only political institution with 85 years of unbroken service through its union, and by extention the party in our community.

The PM, Gaston Browne is a visionary who is not afraid to take risks, if he is ofb the view that it can benefit the country over the longterm. Many who can only see the forest for the trees, live in their myopia while the younger ones are open minded to the catching the vision.

His cabinet consists of some minds of high capacity who also are willing to build this country into an Economic Powerhouse.

Why people are leaving the opposition parties is not my concern. I’m just pleased to see the membership of the Labour Party grow, keeping the dream of the 39ers, including my grandfather, alive and well.

We welcome all the young, even Trevor Young.
      Whosoever wish may come.

  7. This right here reminds me of musical chairs. Then again
At this point whosoever will may come. This right here is a true example of no loyalty. How can you then trust these individuals.
Captain this ship is sinking, Captain the seas are rough oh yes we heart have no capacity for love to humanity, we heartless and sinking low am gonna abandon ship and not stay on it . You do know you do know we have no loyalty for so. Sorry Gypsy mah had to change up the words.

    • @Mr.Antigua: Have you ever heard the expression.A line left out, this is Dave Ray.Ask him,why Gaston whose arse he kisses.Did not give him that work, position in New York. Is the hair man still holding on for that position.Ask Dave Ray,a way Hilary Clinton garne. He worked with her campaign and ended up as losers.

  8. Trevor Young, you would always be a Non-National.Only those of us born in Antigua and Barbuda are referred to as Nationals. So what the heck are your issues. You came to Antigua and joined the Police Force. That is not an issue at all. That was your choice and or decision to make. You left the Force and joined the UPP.You ran as a Candidate on the UPP Ticket and failed. You ridiculed the Candidate for the Labor Party,Maria Browne.Since then you have rolled over into the bed of the Do Nothing Party(DNA).You got your arse kicked in the Elections. Now you have drifted like a ship without an anchor on the Reef, known as ABLP.How could you, after saying so many nasty things about Maria Browne joined the ABLP of Gaston Browne. Are you looking for a big pay day by doing nothing like the others from the UPP/DNA are now doing now in the ABLP? Some of you people have no spines,no balls,no guts.no credibility.Do you really think the people are going to vote for your worthless arses. It does not matter if you are a Non-National or a National.SPINELESS MEN OF STRAWS.

  9. Interesting how we are bent on tearing each other apart when an individual switch party. We get all in our feelings and start insulting each other and calling each other names. Hopefully someone is keeping track of the switching and observing the trends from Blue to orange to red. Because that’s the BIG BIG STORY.

    • There is nothing wrong with switching parties provided it is done on sound political grounds. The frequency in which these crossovers are recurring leads the blind to see this is not the case; they are unethical and opportunistic and I would say borders on political prostitution. This behaviour is of the lowest order and leads one to believe the constant switching is nothing less than jumping on the gravy train to self enrichment and nothing whatever to do with the betterment of their constituents. Take a look at how the favoured crossovers have climbed up the greasy political pole and their financial situation markedly improved. Not much to be proud of but the example has been set.

  10. ABLP was alot better under Lester bird. The new alp is fast becoming like cook’s dump. Remember they can’t change, they will always have the same mentality, to sanitize them is not going to help. That is just who they are. All of them they are nothing short of stinking garbage, and just ruined the party. Those hypocritical flip floppers. Pm will never trust all of you, he just want to see the depth y’all will stoop to.

  11. Sharon Lycorish
You have made yourself the poster child of hypocrisy.
Why are you here ? Was not there enough corruption where you came from?

  12. With the poor performance of the UPP in current public discourse; any aspiring politician would question whether UPP has what it takes to succeed.

For many who may want to see political change, politics is to dirty so they stay away.

The desire for change has to be tempered by the facts of life in Antigua and Barbuda. Politics is dirty and destructive.

Antigua is a place whose population is not mature enough politically to support policies rather than politics.

Trevor Young is typical of those who sees politics as a personal opportunity; and he is simply being opportunistic.

    Sad, but true nonetheless.
