The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Antigua & Barbuda Affairs has launched its 2025 Summer Internship Programme, aimed at familiarising young people with the workings of central government.
At a welcome ceremony, Foreign Minister E.P. Chet Greene stressed the importance of preparing youth for the realities of the modern workforce, especially in the context of global challenges.
“We are the point of contact between Antigua and Barbuda and the world,” he said.
Permanent Secretary, Ambassador Dr Clarence Pilgrim, described the internship as a key step in professional growth and urged participants to engage with issues such as trade policy and economic data.
Interns will work within the ministry for six to eight weeks. Coordinator Jomica Carbon said the programme also includes activities to broaden their understanding of the ministry’s role, with engagement opportunities planned for Barbuda.

Great initiative! We need more programmes like this to prepare our youth for leadership roles.
Hmmmmmmmmm
Glad to see Barbuda included in these plans. Too often they are an afterthought, let’s hope this engagement is meaningful.
