The Minister of Social Transformation reported that the food packages which are to be distributed by her Ministry are being readied, and volunteers are coming forward to deliver to the indigent, the elderly living alone, and to workers who are not now receiving a paycheck.

The packages, each worth several hundred dollars, are intended to help those who cannot help themselves. The Ministry is working closely with the Central Marketing Corporation (CMC) to increase the stock which will eventually reach Antigua and be available to the neediest among us.

Forty-foot containers of sugar, rice and flour will come from St. Vincent and Guyana, so that there will not be any need for rationing. Plentiful supplies are coming and the supermarkets also have sufficient inventories.

  1. Yet no response whatsoever when we call…Just more political point scoring & face saving. In fact, it might as well be fake news to the indigent, the elderly living alone, single parents and to workers who are not receiving a paycheck, who are not getting through.
