Flow Upgrades Mobile Network at Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre
St. John’s, ANTIGUA and BARBUDA (February 19th, 2026) — Leading telecoms provider Flow has completed a major mobile network upgrade at Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, improving indoor coverage across the hospital to support critical clinical operations and enhance connectivity for staff, patients, and visitors.
Delivered through the company’s enterprise division, Liberty Business, the upgrade brings business-grade technology to one of Antigua and Barbuda’s most essential institutions and reinforces the operator’s role in strengthening national infrastructure.
A formal commissioning ceremony brought together representatives from the Ministry of Health, hospital leadership, and the project team from Flow Antigua and Barbuda. In recognition of the hospital’s service to the community, the Liberty Caribbean Foundation presented a US$5,000 contribution to support patient care and facility needs.
Speaking at the event, Senator Michael Joseph, Minister of State within the Ministry of Health, Wellness, Social Transformation and the Environment, said the investment highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships in strengthening the nation’s healthcare system.
“This significant investment by Flow and Liberty Caribbean underscores the critical role modern technology plays in strengthening our healthcare system. By enhancing the IT infrastructure at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, we are improving operational efficiency, equipping our healthcare professionals with essential tools, and ultimately enhancing the quality of care delivered to patients. This contribution reflects a strong commitment to the health and wellbeing of the people of Antigua and Barbuda and highlights the importance of effective publicprivate partnerships in advancing national development.”
“Reliable indoor connectivity is no longer a convenience in a healthcare setting; it is an operational imperative that underpins clinical coordination, enables timely decision-making, and improves the experience of clinicians, patients and visitors alike,” said Shelton Flash, Director, B2B, North Caribbean, Liberty Caribbean.
Liberty Caribbean are the operators of Flow and Liberty Business.

“This upgrade was conceived and executed with those practical outcomes in mind so that care teams can communicate seamlessly and critical services remain connected when it matters most,” added Flash.
Wayne Hull, Country Manager, Flow Antigua and Barbuda, highlighted the national significance of the project.
“This investment is something we are extremely proud to deliver for our country,” he said.
“By strengthening indoor coverage at SLBMC we are supporting the systems that make quality healthcare possible, improving coordination, enhancing patient care, and ensuring that medical teams have the reliable tools they need to perform at their best. We are honoured to play a role in fortifying Antigua and Barbuda’s health infrastructure.”
More than delivering immediate operational gains at SLBMC, this upgrade demonstrates Flow’s enduring commitment to social responsibility, collaborative partnership, and community service. By providing secure, resilient, and locally tailored connectivity at points of care, the project is a concrete step toward safer, better-connected healthcare across the nation.
