Authorities in the Eastern Caribbean have issued a flash flood watch for Antigua, Barbuda, Montserrat, St. Kitts, Nevis, and Anguilla, as a tropical wave approaches the region.

The alert, issued by the Antigua & Barbuda Meteorological Services, comes into effect at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, 23 September 2025, and warns that moderate to major flooding is possible in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Officials emphasised that while flooding is not yet imminent, residents should take precautions.

The meteorological service advised the public to safeguard life and property, be prepared to move to higher ground if necessary, and follow updates through local radio, television, and official channels. The watch could be upgraded to a warning at short notice.

The active tropical wave is expected to bring rainfall totals of between 1 and 4 inches across the affected islands over the next 24 hours.

Officials are urging communities in vulnerable areas to remain vigilant as the weather system moves westward through the Leeward Islands.
