Flash Flood Watch in Effect for Antigua, Barbuda, and Neighboring Islands
The Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for low-lying and flood-prone areas across Antigua, Barbuda, Montserrat, St. Kitts, Nevis, Anguilla, and the British Virgin Islands.
The alert, issued at 4 p.m. Thursday, will remain in effect until 6 a.m. Friday, with officials warning that it could be extended if conditions persist.
A frontal trough is bringing heavy showers and thunderstorms across the Leeward Islands, with more than three inches of rain recorded in the past 24 hours and an additional two to four inches possible through Friday morning.

Meteorologists Letitia Humphreys and Charissa Humphreys said moderate to major flooding is possible, noting that flash flooding can develop quickly and create life-threatening conditions.
Residents are urged to prepare to move to higher ground if necessary, avoid driving through floodwaters, and stay tuned to local radio or television for updates.
The Met Service reminded motorists and pedestrians: “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”
Members of the public can share photos or videos of flooding to [email protected] for monitoring purposes.
