Fellow pupils tribute to Chantel Crump on her old desk at the Five Islands Primary School

Five Islands Primary School

From the Principal’s desk

Chantel’s death has left our school community broken. We are hurting because nothing could have prepared us for this. We can never downplay the impact this loss will continue to have on the school, community and nation, for years to come.

Let us take this as an opportunity! Let this be a rallying cry to get back to the fundamental principles that guided us for years. A call for being our neighbour’s keeper. A mandate to “Do unto others what we want done to us.”

Join with us in prayers of consolation as we seek physical and emotional strength; prayers of thanks for the joy Chantel brought us throughout the years. Sleep in peace little angel and rise in glory.

Principal- Mr. Alden R James

  1. Such a terrible thing how can a classroom have to bare the pain of her empty desk. Those poor kids can’t understand that if we ourselves cannot.

Was this poor girl contacted by social media?

Why did she get in a car with a stranger ?

Again the rumours of organs being removed and we don’t even know the manner in which she died.

Why aren’t our questions answered Antigua is in Agony. Are our children safe ??

  2. What happened to the little boy from Five Islands School who went missing last year. Is he still missing? Was he taken by these same people and met a similar fate to young Chantal?

  3. For the past few days, I have been feeling so down hearing about Chantel and what that wicked woman and man did to her. I pray healing over her family during this difficult time, we as a nation must open our eyes to the fact that Antigua is no longer a safe place. To the police force, government and justice system of this nation, please let justice prevail and do right by Chantel Crump, where so many wrongs were done unto her. Please keep updating the public on this case, may your name live on Chantel, we will never forget you and I am so sorry that they murdered you, you did not deserve this. R.I.P sweet Chantel 🙁

  4. It’s heartbreaking to see how deeply this has affected our daily lives. Parents are hurting, worried for their children’s safety, and children themselves are living in fear. As a parent, it’s incredibly difficult to explain why this happened and to help them find a sense of normalcy again. They no longer feel safe walking alone or playing outside.

What’s even more troubling is the lack of reassurance from the head of security — no comfort, no promise that this won’t become the new norm.

What measures are being taken to ensure this never happens to another child? I don’t believe that’s too much to ask.

  5. Anguilla stand with you Antigua at this time all around anguilla this is being talked about. We are also going through our spate of crimes too. May we all go back to those fundamentals of being our brothers keeper. We just can’t look out when the Agony is on our own door step. Excellent job to the police force for working so swift of this case your work atleast brings some closure. We all wish the outcome was different. To her family, the island are praying for you. #healing #justiseforallcrimes#ChantalRIP 😢 😭 🙏

  6. Sad and heartbroken as I still am, I was able to staunch my tears, but now I’m crying again after reading this. Justice for Chantel!! Oh God that poor child and her family.

  7. Today while driving to work I saw scores of primary school children. I never took notice before of how vulnerable our children are until Chantel’s death. I drove through a short cut to beat the 8am traffic, they were there too short cutting it to get to school. As I drove on I became emotional. Kept on seeing Chantel in my mind. Then I came upon a little girl alone, hair beautifully braided, no one to protect her. She was all alone standing waiting on the bus or the ride that took her to school. I said this is the Antigua that I grew up in free from fair of abduction. An Antigua where the single parent mothers felt safe to leave their little ones alone to brave the streets. Expecting someone will give them a helping hand to cross the road.
This murderer is still a girl herself. We have allowed our society, our community to become so reckless that a child was involved fully with a grown man. We have allow the Hispanics and the Guyanese Indians to bring their evil to our shores. Giving away their girl children to grown men, to the highest bidder. So even if the captain did not partake in Chantel’s murder, his sexual preference to minors
, to children, to this murderer, while she was still a child could have contributed to this evil, wicked murderer. We are very lucky that she did not take many many more. On the day she seemed desperate, the full darkness covered her and evil consumed her. Like she did not care who saw , she was ready for blood.
It could have been any of the children I passed on the road to work this morning. I guess Chantel was the sacrificial lamb for all our nation’s children to remain free. She was free spirit and entertained the car freely they say.
I have been hearing the term strange danger and is told that it is used in school to train our children against the dangers of strangers. However do you know that before now, the teaching were that dangerous strangers were men. When we teach our children not to take ride from strangers we ment , strange men.
This narrative has to be rewritten/ dangerous strangers comes in all ages, sizes, complexions. Man is just desperately evil.
