Five in Police Custody for Unlawful Possession of Firearm, Ammunition, and Cannabis

St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, Wednesday 9 July 2025

Five people are in police custody, following a series of stop-and-search operations conducted across several communities on Tuesday 8 July.

Around 7:00 p.m., police arrested four male suspects, all residents of Villa, for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and several rounds of Ammunition.

In a separate but related incident, a male resident of Ottos was arrested for Unlawful Possession of Cannabis.

All items, including the firearm, ammunition, and cannabis, were taken to police station as part of the ongoing investigations.

The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda continues to intensify its efforts to rid the streets of illegal firearms, ammunition, and narcotics. These operations form part of the Force’s broader strategy to enhance public safety and maintain law and order throughout the island.

The public is once again reminded of the importance of cooperating with the police and providing information that can assist in the fight against crime. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913 or Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).

  1. The police are working real hard with cleaning up the streets. And if these criminals would begin speaking we would know the heads behind these crimes

  2. Can we tip our hats to the hard working policw officers. Anyone who doesnt admit there has been a major improvement is simply dishonest.

  3. Our new police commissionerand head of CID are working. In the last month I can recall that over 10 Gun removed from the streets

  4. Atlee Rodney was just not cutting it. Thank God he left. Look at the difference in crime fighting under Jeffers. Good riddance Atlee, go back to Dominica

  5. Until they stop the the guns from coming in, I’m not celebrating anything, nada.

Until they start locking up these Mafia Bosses in Antigua that are bringing in these weapons, I’m far from giving any credit to any law enforcement officer, None, Nada!

Poor people do not run organize criminal enterprises, not unless you’re Haiti with no elected Government.

Is that what Antigua is? I certainly hope not!
