A baby boy has the distinction of being Antigua and Barbuda’s first Independence Day newborn this year.
The Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre announced that the child was born at 5:35 a.m. to proud parents Glengield and Roleeka King-Henry. Weighing 6 pounds 12 ounces, the baby arrived just in time to share in the nation’s 44th anniversary of Independence.
Hospital staff said the arrival brought “joy to the entire team,” marking what they described as a special way to celebrate the twin-island nation’s milestone.
The hospital extended congratulations to the family and a warm welcome to “the little king.”

Congratulations Mrs king
What a perfect way to celebrate 44 years of independence , a little patriot joining the nation!
A welcme gift to the nation. Congrats to the parents. Let’s hope and pray that he will grow up to be a patriot indeed. Let’s hope that he will love his country more than any political party or politician, and that he will not be bought or sold by anyone for any price.
Antigua is celebrating it 44years of Independence. Are we really independent I am asking the people to take a look around is it any better than 45 years ago.
Sure we say we are independent, but government is always begging or borrowing.( when a child leaves home they have to be able to survive on they own.)
We say Antigua has advance but advance in what?
More crimes, more politicians stealing the Countries money, children without respect for themselves or elders, most people in Antigua are without morality, empathy and most of all no manners.
We as Antiguans have lost what we call kindness. We have adopted all the bad things America has to offer.
Antigua roads are a disgrace, sure we have more cars now, but what has happened to all the money that were allocated for these roads.
The gutters and drainage are a disgrace. I ask you again should we be proud of 44 years of Independence and what we seeing?
Do they get a welcome basket or something? Congratulations
