
Fire at Nugent Avenue Quickly Contained, No Injuries Reported
Firefighters responded to a report of a fire on Nugent Avenue Saturday afternoon but found the blaze already extinguished on arrival, authorities said.
According to Inspector Bagot, the St. John’s Fire Station received the call at 2:13 p.m. Crews responded immediately with fire tenders No. 17 and No. 19.
Firefighters arrived at the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party Headquarters, where they encountered several burnt wooden pallets that had been put out by members of the public. No firefighting equipment was deployed, as the fire was already extinguished.
The southern wall of the building sustained heat and smoke damage. No injuries were reported.
The Fire Brigade is investigating the cause of the fire.
