Source- Real News Antigua: The Fire Department is probing two recent blazes: one that
completely destroyed a Potters Main Road house and the other occurring in a shipping container.

Reports say that firefighters attached to the St. John’s Station were called to the scene of the house fire, which reportedly occurred at about 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 21.

Further reports say that the 53-year-old Potters Village homeowner was awakened by the heat he felt on his arm, after which he saw fire next to his bed.

He was unable to say how the fire started in the 12’ x 12’ one-room wooden structure, which had no electricity or water services attached.

The dwelling was completely destroyed along with its contents, which included a bed and a stove.

The house was uninsured.

Inquiries into this incident are also being conducted by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

Meanwhile, an anonymous person called the Bolans Police Station to report that a shipping container was on fire at Harbour Island in
Jolly Harbour.

This incident occurred at about 6:21 p.m. on January 19.

Reports say fire officers attached to the St. John’s Station were dispatched to the scene, where they met a 40’ container engulfed
in flames.

The container is owned by Gary Munn of Jolly Harbour and, allegedly, some air ducts were destroyed.

There was no electricity attached to the container and it was not insured.

The cause of that fire is currently unknown.
