Staff and customers at the APUA Business Centre were evacuated late Wednesday morning after a fire alarm was triggered.

The alarm sounded at around 11:45 local time, prompting the immediate activation of evacuation protocols. Occupants assembled safely in a nearby vacant lot on High Street.

The St. John’s Fire Brigade carried out a full safety inspection and confirmed there was no emergency.

Staff and customers were later allowed to return to the building.

APUA thanked the fire service and on-site security for their swift response and confirmed that everyone was accounted for.

  1. With all the rain, water might have gotten in the fire alarm panel(s). Sometimes ants, roaches, etc… even lizards can trigger the system. It’s always good to do a monthly preventative maintenance check on the alarm panel.

  2. Also, with the rain the panel(s) might have developed some moisture which could trigger the system. APUA needs to have their technicians check the entire panel system for safety.

  3. Wouldn’t be surprised to hear Faithful National # 1 blame the UPP, he gas an overactive imagination be cause of where that head is stuck
