Finance Ministry Reviews Contractors’ Invoices Amid Garbage Collection Gaps

The Ministry of Finance is reviewing invoices from contractors hired by the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) for garbage collection.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne indicated that some contractors have allegedly billed the government despite having inoperable trucks.

To address collection gaps, the government recently acquired 10 new trucks. Speaking on Facebook, Browne noted that the review aims to reduce outstanding bills—some of which date back to previous administrations—by up to 50%.

A bond issuance is planned to ensure regular payments from 2025.
