This incident, which allegedly occurred at about 7:50 a.m., was reported to the Bolans Police Station by a teacher on Wednesday, March 20.
As a result of the injuries he sustained, the 13-year-old had to be transported to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre via the Emergency Medical Service (EMS).
Reports say the boy was at school when he was approached by another student who began beating him in his back with a stick.
It is alleged that, during the altercation, the 13-year-old sustained a wound below his right eye, which bled onto his uniform shirt.
However, the version of the alleged perpetrator differs somewhat from that of the victim.
In the presence of the deputy principal, the 14-year-old offender and his father told the Police that the victim had struck the older boy with a stone.
As a consequence, the 14-year-old said he took up a stick and struck the victim in the back.
Allegedly, during the altercation the younger teen ran off, but fell and hit his face.
The alleged offender was then taken to the Johnsons Point Police Station, along with his father, into whose custody he was later released.
Investigations continue into this incident.
