Ffryes Beach in Antigua Named One of World’s Best in 2025 Ranking

Antigua and Barbuda’s Ffryes Beach has secured a spot on the prestigious 2025 World’s 50 Best Beaches list, marking the first time the twin-island nation has been featured in the global ranking.

Compiled by over 1,000 travel experts and influencers, the list highlights destinations that blend natural beauty with efforts to preserve tranquility and limit overdevelopment. Beaches were judged on eight factors including untouched nature, wildlife, calm waters, and lack of overcrowding.

Topping this year’s list is Cala Goloritzé in Sardinia, Italy—a protected cove famed for its limestone cliffs and limited daily visitor access. The top five also include Entalula Beach in the Philippines, Bang Bao Beach in Thailand, Fteri Beach in Greece, and PK9 Beach in French Polynesia.

Canto de la Playa in the Dominican Republic ranked highest in the Caribbean at number six, while Turks and Caicos’ Grace Bay came in at number ten. Antigua’s Ffryes Beach joined other regional standouts such as Shoal Bay East in Anguilla and Grand Anse in Grenada.

Organisers noted a record number of debut countries on this year’s list, including Antigua and Barbuda, Madagascar, Yemen, Sri Lanka, and Costa Rica. “This is the highest number of new countries we have included in a release so far,” said cofounder Tine Holst.

Only one U.S. beach made the cut—Siesta Beach in Florida at number 42.

  1. Now that we make the list, I just hope they don’t come and over-commercialize it. We need to protect Ffryes, not turn it into another tourist trap.

  2. Happy for Ffryes, but Half Moon Bay and Valley Church Beach coulda easily mek the cut too. Antigua just full of gems

  3. Nice that we get a lil recognition, but let’s see if the government go do anything to invest more in beach upkeep and facilities
