Law enforcement officers at the country’s primary cargo port seized nearly half a million dollars worth of marijuana and have taken a woman into custody to aid with investigations.
On Wednesday, April 26, the police collaborated with the Customs Department in a combined drug operation at the Deep Water Harbour, resulting in the confiscation of 80 pounds of marijuana.
According to reports, the illegal substance was concealed in 69 packages amidst food items in two barrels and is valued at around $480,000 on the street.
Following the discovery, authorities impounded the barrels and detained a 32-year-old female suspect.
