Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force Addresses Matter Involving

Member Accused of Criminal Offence

The Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF) confirms that one of its members is currently under investigation in connection with a criminal offence involving an illegal substance.

In keeping with its obligations under the Defence Act, 2006, and guided by the principles of due process, the ABDF initiated internal proceedings to address the matter in accordance with established military protocols.

However, it was determined that the case would proceed under civilian jurisdiction.

The ABDF assures the public that it is working in full collaboration with the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda to ensure that justice is served.

This joint approach reflects our unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and the rule of law.

The ABDF remains steadfast in its responsibility to uphold the highest standards of discipline and integrity.

We recognize the importance of maintaining public trust and national security, and we will continue to cooperate fully with all relevant authorities in this matter.

  5. Hey! Hey! Hey!
    Something is wrong.
Members of ABDF are not above the law.
They deal with disciplinary matter in house.
They cannot and I mean cannot investigate criminal matters.
When a matter of a criminal nature occurs under their watch they are duty bound to report it to the police for investigations.
They cannot deal with a crimnal matters via the discipline route.
The young men in Grays Farm should be highly peeved.
They do not have the protection of the army.
They are hauled before the court for anything in excess of 14 grams which is not enough for a “fat man”.
    No.

  6. Well that person is only one caught of many. Whole ton of them handling drugs. This is just an unfortunate one so what they need to do is press this person until the others are revealed

  7. How can a matter like they even be thought of dealing internally. Should have been probes as a criminal offence from the start irrespective of who commits it

  8. This is not a first. Honestly, many of these Defence Force guys are black lipped-red eye red-eye-looking dudes who are always look high off something. Most of them hardly made it past high school and automatically became a Defence Force or police officer. Mi Did Never see worse.

  10. Rather shocking shock information was even release. I guess they are beginning to change. Haha. We will see now that real corruption comes from the law enforcers and crew

  11. All of this point to the fact that we have a ways to go to root out corruption in our midst. This is a step in the right direction. A reminder that this person is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law and not the other way around.
