A retail clothing store in Antigua and Barbuda has suffered more than $42,000 in losses following a string of robberies and attempted break-ins over the past five months.

Fashion Connect, which recently relocated to Whenner Road, was first targeted in January 2025 at its previous location in Jennings. Thieves made off with clothing, accessories, jewelry, and equipment worth over $15,000.

The latest and most costly burglary occurred in the early hours of 26 May. Thieves stole similar merchandise and the store’s cash register, bringing losses to over $27,000.

Police confirmed that two other break-in attempts were foiled on 17 and 27 May. Surveillance footage from the latest incident has been shared online as part of a public appeal for assistance.

Several suspects have been identified, and investigations are ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Headquarters or the store through their social media channels.

  1. People in Antigua too damn thief now man and the thieves are in all strata of the society, the rich a rob the poor and the poor a rob from the rich, the middle class and even people that poorer than them

  2. Antigua’s economy is suppose to be doing so well according to the government, so how come there is so much thief going on all over the place. A street vendor at woods pond said that they were given a toilet building and some one stole the toilet. These types of things only happen in countries with high unemployment and a high poverty rate. The government should stop saying how great things are when people are living in poverty and unemployed. People who are gainfully employed don’t have time to rob people.

  3. I have said it here many times and people are not listening. Cameras alone make no sense. The criminals are aware of cameras and are coming with faces covered in most cases. Along with cameras there must be an alarm system. Security Services monitor the alarm for a reasonable fee.
And I do not subscribe to these thefts being a result of unemployment. Jobs are available for these young men in construction and in hotels. Robbing is their occupation. They do not want to work. And when caught they should be given hard labour so that they learn the value of hard work. Talk to any employer in this country and they will tell you the problems they are having with employing young people. They come when they like. Do little work. Have no interest. Smoke weed on the job. It is now a culture. Maybe ANR can do a survey of employers and get the picture of what is happening.
