The family of Khaleel Simon and a group of concerned residents will gather outside Police Headquarters on American Road at 3 p.m. today to demand justice for the 20-year-old, who was fatally shot by police in Bolans several weeks ago.
The demonstration was initially set for last Friday but was postponed due to bad weather. Despite the delay, a handful of residents still appeared with placards, underscoring their determination to keep the matter in the public eye.
Simon’s relatives allege that he was given no chance to surrender before being shot, describing the incident as an excessive use of force. His death has sparked widespread concern about police accountability and deepened unease in Bolans and surrounding villages.
Residents and youth advocates warn that trust between law enforcement and communities is at risk. “People are beginning to feel unsafe in any encounter with police,” one supporter said, adding that unchecked incidents could inflame tensions.

Police Commissioner Everton Jeffers has confirmed the case is under investigation, pledging that all facts will be carefully examined. But Simon’s family say they are running out of patience and insist the officer involved must face consequences.
Today’s picket is expected to attract a larger crowd as relatives, friends, neighbours, and supporters rally around the family in their call for justice.

I hope they come out in their numbers not just for Simon but for every other person who have died at the hands of police and others
Go and bury you all dead and stop creating traffic delays. Your folks were bad, lived by the sword and died by the sword and all of a sudden they are the best thing since death. OH PLEASE…..
Why 3pm? most of admin is either going or gone home by then why not 1pm or so. The officer needs to be taken off duty and charged.
