The family of a 29-year-old Antiguan woman living with stage four metastatic breast cancer is issuing an urgent public appeal for O-negative blood as she continues critical treatment.

Rudisha Jean-Pierre, a mother of two, is described by relatives as a devoted wife, sister, daughter and friend whose strength and faith have carried her through a gruelling medical journey. But her loved ones say she now faces a life-threatening hurdle that requires immediate community support.

According to the family, Jean-Pierre must undergo a blood transfusion to stabilise her condition and continue receiving treatment. Without compatible blood—specifically O-negative—her chances of maintaining stability are “grim”.

While the plea is directed at individuals with the universal donor blood type, the family is also asking the wider public to help amplify the message. They say sharing the appeal through social media or within community networks could help reach potential donors more quickly.

“Your donation could save a life and ensure two young children continue to be raised by their mother,” the family said in a statement, adding that no act of support—whether donating, sharing information or spreading the word—is too small.

They expressed gratitude to members of the public who have already offered assistance and emphasised that community solidarity is essential as Jean-Pierre continues her fight.

Anyone able to donate O-negative blood is urged to contact the nearest medical facility or local blood bank.
