Prime Minister Gaston Browne has confirmed that the extra salary for public servants will be paid in December.
Browne made the announcement during his ongoing budget presentation.
“I wish to reaffirm out government’s commitment to public servants,” Browne said noting that the date for the extra salary will now be paid in December, the original date and not January 2024 as previously announced.
Negotiations for salary increases were concluded in late 2023 and the increase implemented in January of 2024.
“We must now generate the resources to pay the retroactive amounts due to public servants in the shortest possible time,” Browne who is also finance minister said.
A contribution to retroactive pay was made in 2022 to eligible public servants, “and it is our intention to make a second contribution in the form of one month’s gross basic pay.”
“Initially I had said that perhaps not before January next year, But I am pleased to announce that we make sure that we pay this additional salary before the end of December,” Browne announced to applause.

Thanks for the extra salary.

Mr. PM. What about the former LIAT employees who are looking forward to some monies in December.
Antigua and Barbuda is in the move to the next level in the economicpowerhouse. Bravo👏🏽💯🚩
Did anybody notice that Barbudans are no longer complaining about subventions being behind? They’re all working for PLH.
Thank you Uncle Gassy! We love you. Don’t listen to the haters. I am grateful.
Fellow Antiguans, I was once an avid ABLP and Gaston Browne supporter way back in 2013/14. I believed every manifesto promise he made.
His words and cajoling was as smooth as 10-year-old bottle of English Harbour Antiguan Rum. Smoooth as silk!
However, many defecting ABLP supporters like me began to recognise his many manifesto promises that were broken, and to make matters worse, Gaston Browne got very complacent with the electorate and his supporters.
Many like me had, had enough. Fact!
This two term complacency has led the government to neglect the country to date.
I BLAME THE CURRENT ABLP SUPPORTERS.
With the current groundswell of the majority of Antiguans wanting things to improve, the Prime Minister has had to act sooner rather than later before being kicked out by electorate.
Finally, if other like-minded ABLP supporters had pushed Prime Minister Browne to act a lot more when he first came to prominence, then maybe, just maybe Antigua & Barbuda would have been prosperous.
AT LEAST I AM HOLDING THE PM TO ACCOUNT.
Brixtonian putting Antiguans first before Gaston Browne …
REMEMBER TO TAP YOUR POCKET AFTER THE BUDGET …
I keep asking the question. You paying back pay from 2019 onwards, WHAT ABOUT 2018 BACKPAY? 6 DAM YEARS 6!!!! ME done work for me money, i want my money NOW!!! Oh Lord man a wickedness this.
