REAL NEWS ANTIGUA: In a powerful show of solidarity with public-school educators, Emanuel Peters, the United Progressive Party’s Caretaker for St. John’s Rural South, is stepping up to recognize the hard work and dedication of teachers in his constituency.
On Friday, May 30, Peters will host a special appreciation luncheon for the teachers of Ottos Comprehensive School, Golden Grove Primary, and Mary E. Pigott Primary.
The catered meal, complete with dessert, is Peters’ way of saying “thank you” to those on the frontlines of shaping the nation’s future.
“Our teachers are among the most important pillars of this country,” Peters states. “Yet, time and again, they are overlooked and underappreciated—especially by this Administration, whose recent actions have shown blatant disrespect to both educators and their union.”
Peters makes it clear: the event is more than just a meal. It is a statement.
“This is a small but meaningful gesture.
Our teachers have endured a difficult third term, and they continue to give their all under trying conditions. What I’m doing is just a token of my deep appreciation—but it also sends a message. We see you, we value you, and we stand with you.”
As both a businessman and political representative, Peters says he and the United Progressive Party firmly believe that education is the foundation of national development.
“Teachers don’t just deliver lessons—they provide emotional support, model positive behaviour, and often fill the gaps left by struggling families and strained communities,” he says. “They are mentors, motivators, and moulders of the next generation.”
Peters concludes with conviction: “Our teachers are this country’s greatest resource. We must treat them with the dignity and fairness they deserve. I’m proud to do my part—and I won’t stop speaking up for you.

@rovi darg. Gladys has supported many, with more than ice-cream. Jermaine has supported teachers and they have acknowledged her graciously as well as she still supports the constituency, the youth and the seniors. Gladys, still supports the senior citizens throughout Antigua and Barbuda. To try and tear down women that are still active in their communities and the nation is sick shit. Politics need capable women, women with capacity not a dunce that makes false claims to his so- called wealth, claiming business after business and knows he doesn’t have a pot to piss in. And while you are at it, please post the alleged articles that you state Jermaine Edwards bashed the UPP. We all know you are Peter’s brother. You still have to campaign against the women who are no longer in the race because of his inability and lack of capacity to show up and do anything. What he should be doing is reaching out to the women because they have a strong hold in the constituency. Instead you fools are campaigning against people who are living their lives while serving the community. I have had conversations with both women and I can tell you, that Emanuel Peters carn walk in dem shoes. He needs their help so it’s best he reach out. They both hold a strong number of supporters and you might not see Jermaine, but she moves throughout the constituency silently, not posting her work simply because she is about people just like Gladys. Take note, do your work without trying to step on people who do not acknowledge you or consider you important. Go for your opponent Daryl Matthew or are you just about targeting women because you think they are vulnerable? #nastiness
