A woman in Antigua is expected to undergo surgery after suffering a serious ankle injury during Friday’s earthquake while trying to get her two-year-old child to safety.
Eli Fuller said his wife, Angela Fuller, fell while attempting to carry their toddler downstairs as the shaking triggered panic inside their home during the magnitude 6-plus earthquake that struck east of the Leeward Islands.
According to Fuller, Angela managed to keep the child safe during the incident but severely injured her ankle in the process.

“Surgery on Tuesday to repair smashed up ankle after swelling goes down,” Fuller wrote in a social media post shared Saturday.
He thanked staff at Woods Radiology, Urgent Care and Dr. “Snowy” Wiik for assisting following the incident.
The earthquake, which was widely felt across Antigua and Barbuda and neighboring islands, prompted concern across the region but resulted in no widespread reports of injuries or major structural damage.
Fuller said the incident serves as a reminder that earthquakes can quickly become dangerous, especially in the Caribbean, which sits along several active tectonic plate boundaries and has a long history of major seismic events.
He referenced several historic earthquakes that affected the region, including the 1843 Guadeloupe–Antigua earthquake and the 1974 Antigua region earthquake.
Officials have said there was no tsunami threat associated with Friday’s quake, though aftershocks remain possible.

I don’t get it,
Why this made the news?🤔
Someone please help me understand.
It must be a slow news day!
Glad both are safe and wishing Mrs. Fuller a speedy recovery….I think we all know earthquakes can get really bad and what your wife did is what any loving parent would do for their child or children so I am not sure why this is news….But yeah glad everyone is safe…
Why do we have to know? So much tragedy happen on the island to elderly and other people!
And we care why?
And why do you make it look as if the child was in imminent danger? Just say that you and the child were exiting the house as a precaution geezzz.
I saw mr fuller driving down the road in jennings the other day with his hazards on in a big 4×4 truck that seems to be a little large for someone who claims to care about the environment so much. He was swerving around the smallest potholes. This MASSIVE truck is fully capable of driving right through these potholes but it seems Eli had to put his hazards on and make all the peasants move out of his way instead of just driving thru which he is perfectly capable of doing. Maybe something was wrong with the truck but thats the vibe i got.
Sounds like she should have been working on her stabilizing muscles .. DO I sound like ELI FULLER .. Mr know it all … TMI “.. when you put it out there .. stuff like this happens…
@Sandra clarke
Very few people above the age of 17 on Antigua do not know of Eli Fuller. He is prolific on Facebook discussing national issues sometime controversial.
I ask you and every concerning Antiguan and Barbudan to look at the Youtube session where Eli attended a round table discussion on Pointe FM with PM Gaston Browne and several of his Ministers.
While Eli agues for training in the boating and sailing business for young Antiguans as well as what telling what outsiders were doing to game the system and make lots of money.
The Prime Minister too notes while he stated: “we are a constitutional country” In other words our laws allow for other from abroad to come to Antigua with a little money. Play games and violate the laws as Eli described.
Further the PM stated Antiguans young people are worthless and lack ambition.
My point is Sandra. Eli has a voice and visibility that could benefit our young people.
He has an ego so that why he placed his personal situation on social media.
He has can be of value to a getting our young people into good paying jobs and long term careers that European visitors are filling at the moment.
