Antigua and Barbuda’s insurance sector earned international attention this year as Elease Richardson, head of Salient Insurance Agents for Pan American Life Insurance, represented the nation at two of the industry’s most prestigious global gatherings.
Richardson carried the Antiguan flag at the Finseca Leaders and Managers Program (LAMP) in Orlando in March and at the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) annual meeting in Miami Beach in June.
LAMP, held from 22–25 March, is considered the premier forum for agency leaders, attracting the top one percent of managers worldwide. Richardson’s Antiguan-based unit, headquartered at Mandolin Place on Friars Hill Road, was one of just six Pan American Life Insurance agencies to qualify — and the only representative from the Eastern Caribbean Islands.
“Being able to share strategies with leaders from larger markets was an invaluable experience,” Richardson said.
In June, she joined elite agents at the MDRT annual meeting, regarded as the pinnacle for individual insurance professionals. Only about six percent of agents globally achieve this standard. Richardson celebrated her sixth MDRT qualification, bringing her closer to the Life Member milestone awarded after ten years.
“This career has been my passion for over 24 years,” she reflected. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to share knowledge with colleagues from across the world and to keep raising the standard for insurance professionals from Antigua and Barbuda.”
Richardson, who joined Pan American Life in 2015, also represented the Eastern Caribbean at the company’s London convention this year, where she earned the Silver Award in Frontline Leadership. She currently manages a team of six agents and three administrative staff, crediting their hard work and client support for her achievements.
“I am deeply honored to represent Antigua and the Eastern Caribbean at these world-class forums,” she said. “I look forward to qualifying at even higher levels in the years to come. To my staff, Pan American Life’s management, and our loyal patrons — I thank you. People remain at the heart of everything we do.”
