Just as the nation of Antigua and Barbuda celebrated 40 years of political independence on 1st November, so too, did the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda, as they celebrated with eight members, who have given over four decades of unbroken service to the nation.
During an award ceremony held at the Sir Wright F. George Police Academy on Thursday 4th November, His Excellency, Sir Rodney Williams conferred the Meritorious Service Medal on Assistant Commissioner Elvis Weaver; Superintendents Cecilia Francis, Christopher Warren, and Avil Jacobs; along with Assistant Superintendents Alston Ryan, Arthur Edwards; and Inspectors John Pelle and Bastin Burke, for their years of unbroken service to the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda and the nation of Antigua and Barbuda.
Assistant Commissioner Elvis Weaver is currently the longest serving member of the police force; having enlisted in the service in February of 1979.
Commissioner Rodney congratulated the honorees and thanked them for their support over the years. He further encouraged them to continue be an example to their subordinates; pointing to those who may have lost the will to carry on and follow in their footsteps.
Retired Commissioner, Sir Wright F. George was also presented with a plaque for Meritorious Service to the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda by the Commissioner of Police, Atlee Rodney.
Sir George’s Career in the police force span from 1951-1990. He retired in June of 1990, having served as commissioner of police for 16 years.
Acting Prime Minister, The Honourable Steadroy Benjamin delivered the feature address.

Alston Ryan…unbroken years of service? Hmmmm
Same thing I am saying. You see the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda rewards it’s members (especially good friends) for wrong doings while the hard workers suffer. The force seems to forget history while this man was on suspension for alleged offense others were working hard. Soon as he was back they promoted him infront of hard working officers. I believe one needs to commit a crime in this force to get ahead.
In total agrerment. He should be at 1735 Rodney needs to know them.
Mr Commissioner, you were not physically on the ground for a number of years, you were away studying. You need to check officers Personal File before awarding officers. A couple of those Officers have no character or discipling, the whole world knows that. Anyhow they were awarded for LONG SERVICE not Good Conduct. One was sent out of the Force for taking people’s money under false pretenses. He owes a lot of white men and one took him to Court. He was taken back in the Force I 2014, and that was not forty years ago.
Another was evicted for lack of rent payment.etc,etc.
QUESTION:
Has the Audit Dept. completed the auditing of books at The Govt.Building on Factory road with some Red Vehicles parked therein and close to 1735?
Is it true that there was a Cresh in that building that only certain persons knew about?
Is it true that a very Senior Officer is getting the equavalent of a Constable’s salary monthly because of him paying back money iafter the Audit also from Subordinates are paying back too?
The Audit Report went to a funeral home under the carpet but nothing in Antigua is secret.
Plenty more day.
So when you hear people talking about Respect, Discipline and honesty tell them look at them self first because they have none, only Long Service. I will stop here for now, can’t give all one time.
