Former Cost Pro Supermarket worker Edwin Ireland has been sentenced to one year and ten months in prison after being found guilty of a fraud scheme involving forged Customs documents.
Between 2019 and 2020, Edwin Ireland exploited gaps in the supermarket’s payment procedures, falsifying official receipts and signatures to divert cash intended for Customs duties. The scheme went undetected for an extended period due to procedural failures, including his frequent unsupervised container inspections.
A judge-alone trial led to his conviction on 25 counts of forgery and uttering by a servant on December 6, 2024. Justice Ann Marie Smith handed down the sentence.

I THINK THERE OUT TO BE AN ENFORCEABLE LAW IN PLACE WHEREBY COMPANIES WHICH HAVE THE PUBLIC AT LARGE AS STAKEHOLDERS ARE MANDATED BY LAW TO ALLOW HIGHLY TRAINED, UNBIASED, & EXPERIENCED INDEPENDENT AUDITORS TO EXAMINE THE BOOKS FROM TIME TO TIME. THIS WILL:
1)UNDOUBTEDLY UNRAVEL ANY EMBEZZLEMENT/SIPHONING OFF OF FUNDS THAT MAY HAVE TAKEN PLACE.
2)ASCERTAIN THAT THE STAKEHOLDERS’ INVESTMENT IS BEING PROPERLY UTILIZED TO PROVIDE A TRUE & FAIR VIEW OF EVERY DOLLAR INVESTED, AS OPPOSED TO JUST HAVING THE FUNDS WAREHOUSED & HENCE NOT GAINING ANY RETURN &/OR DIVERTING A PORTION OF THE INVESTED FUNDS INTO GREEDY, DISHONEST HANDS.
3)WILL SERVE AS A STRONG DETERRENT FOR ANYONE CONTEMPLATING DISHONESTY WITH THE STAKEHOLDERS’ HARD EARNED INVESTMENT, BECAUSE THEY WILL KNOW THAT THEY ARE BOUND TO BE CAUGHT, HOWEVER CUNNINGLY THEY MAY TRY TO CONCEAL THE EMBEZZLED FUNDS.
